Increased Focus on the Global Market

According to Peter Lindén, Key Account Manager at Foodhills, it is currently the time for vegetables – especially frozen ones. Climate-smart and nutritious products, available year-round, are in demand by buyers worldwide. Not least because they contribute to reducing food waste and minimizing environmental impact.

The increasing production volumes open up opportunities for developing the customer base. In recent years, Foodhills has expanded its production of processed frozen peas as new growers have joined and the weather has permitted. The state-of-the-art, automated facility that was commissioned in 2022 has enabled growth, and the company is now intensifying efforts to increase exports.

Establishing New Customer Contacts

Peter Lindén, with his extensive experience in the food industry, was hired in late 2023 to strengthen Foodhills’ international presence. Together with Bengt Brinder, Sales Manager, and Madeleine Truumeel, Finance and Sales Assistant, he is working to establish new customer relationships and increase awareness of Foodhills AB worldwide.

“With my background in industrial economics and extensive experience in the food industry, both nationally and internationally, I see Foodhills as a reliable partner in the global market,” says Peter. “We are proud of our independent position and our ability to offer high-quality products that meet the highest standards.”

Valuable Specialist Expertise

It takes three hours from the time a pea is harvested, transported, washed, quality-assured in the laboratory, to when it is packed and becomes a finished frozen product. This process involves no additives or processing – a completely pure product created naturally. At Foodhills, there is unique knowledge in pea production from agricultural consultants who support growers with advice from planting to harvest. There is extensive experience among employees who guide all new seasonal staff in the field as well as in the new facility to meet the high-quality standards.

Demand Exceeds Supply

Foodhills primarily delivers to industrial customers, and the demand for green peas currently exceeds supply. There is particularly increased demand in Europe and Asia. Green peas have many valuable attributes that affect the entire supply chain.

  • They add nitrogen to the grower’s soil, eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers.
  • They are rich in protein and other nutrients, making them a viable vegetarian protein alternative.
  • Moreover, they are delicious as they are on the plate and loved by many people and cultures.

“We have seen an increase in new customers and inquiries this spring, which is incredibly exciting,” adds Peter. “And our collaboration with GroPro, a groundbreaking innovator in plant-based protein production, shows that we are moving towards a future of both growth and sustainability.”

At Foodhills AB, the atmosphere is characterized by unpretentious optimism. Everyone works together to achieve the goals, with a strong belief in the future both internally and among the growers who supply the raw materials.

“I really enjoy being here,” concludes Peter.
